Global Philanthropy Project (GPP) seeks a Senior Program Officer for Trans and Intersex Funding Initiatives to join our team working to expand philanthropic support for LGBTI people and movements in the Global South and East. This role will oversee the workplan of the Trans and Intersex Funding Task Force and the Trans-Inclusive Grantmaker Training as well as coordinating relevant global research distribution and representing GPP as a subject-matter expert. This is a part-time (25 hrs/week), exempt position contingent on funding. This position is eligible for limited organizational benefits, subject to the terms, conditions, and limitations of each benefit program or policy.

Established in 2009, GPP’s 23 member organizations include many of the leading global funders and philanthropic advisors for LGBTI rights. GPP is internationally recognized as the primary thought leader and go-to partner for donor coordination around global LGBTI work.

Responsibilities and Activities 

This role serves as an organizer focused on the trans and intersex funding initiative within GPP, coordinating with other GPP staff to increase and improve global funding focused on trans and intersex communities. The Senior Program Officer for Trans and Intersex Funding Initiatives will report to the Director of Public Engagement. 

Job responsibilities and activities include, but are not limited to:

Task Force Coordination

  • Lead the Trans and Intersex Funding Task Force through work plan management and stakeholder engagement including development of regular meeting agendas and materials (slide decks, notes, resources, Zoho portal posts). 
  • Develop content (panels, side meetings, etc) for conferences, webinars, and other GPP public programming. Facilitate critical discussions at convenings and serve as an expert in the field of trans and intersex funding.
  • Maintain relationships with aligned organizations and identify partnership opportunities that align with the core goals and objectives of GPP.

Donor Engagement

  • Engage the leading global and regional funders of trans and intersex issues to continue to maintain, diversify, and increase their funding levels of support.
  • Mobilize leading funders of LGBTI issues and intersectional issues to increase their support of trans and intersex issues from within existing portfolios, particularly for trans-led and intersex-led organizations.
     

Trans-Inclusive Grantmaker Training Coordination

  • Organize at least two training cohorts per year, including curriculum updates, coordination of trainers, participant outreach, management of registration, and other logistical support as needed. 
  • Coordinate monitoring and evaluation to assess program outcomes and results.

Research

  • Lead efforts to distribute and present the third edition of the State of Trans Organizing and State of Intersex Organizing reports, including development of a distribution strategy and support for ongoing related programming. 
  • Support any future GPP research focused on trans and intersex initiatives, including review of drafts and other materials. 


Fundraising, Budgeting, and Reporting

  • Partner with the Executive Director and Director of Development and Advancement to develop and respond to fundraising opportunities and proposals. 

Knowledge and Skills Required

  • At least 5 years of demonstrated experience as a program officer or similar role.
  • Excellent project management skills, organizational skills, and strong attention to detail.
  • Minimum of five years of working at a foundation or an international development or human rights organization in a related field, ideally with experience related to movements for trans and intersex human rights protection and defense.
  • Excellent coalition-building skills and ability to work asynchronously with a team.
  • Excellent written and public speaking communication skills in English.
  • High level of proficiency with remote office tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with multiple constituencies and audiences, with varied (and global) backgrounds and languages.
  • Proven ability to work remotely and independently, prioritize and complete multiple projects, meet deadlines, and maintain consistent attention to detail. 
  • Demonstrated commitment to the work and values of Global Philanthropy Project.

Hours + Compensation

This is a regular, part-time (25 hrs/week), exempt position dependent on funding. This position is eligible for limited organizational benefits, subject to the terms, conditions and limitations of each benefit program or policy.

The salary for this position is US$60,000-$70,000, depending on skills and experience, and a cost-of-living assessment based on geographic location.  

This role is 100% remote, with occasional travel.
